Experience Cultures From Six Continents in One Location at the Muhammad Ali Center
LOUISVILLE, KY (January 18, 2006) Travel to far away places and explore cultures from around the world right in your hometown! The Muhammad Ali Center, in partnership with the Center for Cultural Resources at Indiana University Southeast, will bring the world to you through Cultural Crossroads: An Educational Expedition on January 21 and 28.
Featuring displays of artifacts, games, activities, and teaching materials representing one or more countries from each of the human-populated continents, the “expedition” will provide a fun and informative international experience for families, students, educators, and people of all ages. A great way to learn about the cultures of the world, this “global gathering” will also include members of the community from various countries who will be on hand to talk with guests about their heritage. Furthermore, participants can become a Citizen Diplomat by receiving a stamp from each of the countries visited on the “educational expedition.” Citizen Diplomats are designated as a person who strives to promote respect, hope and understanding among all the people of the world.
The event will be held from 12 noon to 4 p.m. in the Main Lobby (Level 2) of the Muhammad Ali Center. Admission to the special program is free. The Muhammad Ali Center is located at 144 N. Sixth Street between Main Street and River Road. The entrances for parking in the Ali Center garage can be accessed from Sixth and Seventh Streets.
