Muhammad Ali Center Remembers Coretta Scott King
LOUISVILLE, KY (January 31, 2006) - Today, the Muhammad Ali Center acknowledges the passing of a great woman, Ms. Coretta Scott King, whose significant contributions to human dignity, non-violence, and social change—both in the U.S. and abroad—will be deeply missed and appreciated.
In 1968, her late husband’s dream became her dream, and for decades Mrs. King worked with grace and determination to bring about freedom, justice, and brotherhood for all and has continued to touch thousands of lives.
Coretta Scott King, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Muhammad Ali, all had roles in the civil rights movement, and today on the eve of African American History Month, it is appropriate to honor the courage and dedication of all three… and especially to celebrate Coretta’s incredible life and to embrace her optimistic words for the future: “Many despair at all the evil and unrest and disorder in the world today but I see a new social order and I see the dawn of a new day.”
