Quilters to Sew Hundreds of Quilt Blocks for the Ali Center's Patchwork for Peace Program
Open Invitation for Quilters/Sewers to Participate
The Ali Center invites the public to watch as community volunteers sew together hundreds of denim fabric blocks into quilts that will provide warmth for those overseas who are victims of armed conflict. Throughout the summer, blue jeans donated for the project have been cut and decorated by visitors, school groups, and many others both locally and around the country. This sewing stage of the quilt-making involves members of the community who are volunteering their time and talents for this labor of love.* Once the quilts are completed, they will be on display in the Ali Center until August 31 and then sent overseas and distributed to people who live in war-torn countries.
*Quilters/sewers interested in volunteering for this project may call (502) 992-5319 or e-mail for more information.
