Youth Build Environmental Corps Makes a Clean Sweep Around the Ali Center

Youth Build Environmental Corps of Louisville visited the Ali Center on August 8, 2008 to work around the exterior of the facility and on the Plaza.  In appreciation of their hard work, the Ali Center in cooperation with their group leader, Mike Mudd, organized for the youth to have an educational tour of the Center’s operations in addition to enjoying the 2 ½ levels of exhibits.  Ali Center operations staff took the group on a brief tour “behind the scenes” of the facility – showing them the geothermal systems used in the building as well as the fire pump systems, auxillary generator and building systems management panel.

The Youth Build program is designed for high school aged youth from the community to learn about improving the environment and improving the look of facilities throughout the Louisville area.  During the summer, they built and improved trails at Jefferson Memorial Forest and landscaped at various other facilities and organizations, including schools.
