Ali Center Hosts an Educator Workshop as Part of the Kentucky Institute for Arts in Education

Educators participating in a KIAE workshop at the Ali Center

On July 11, approximately 30 educators attended a workshop and a tour of the award-winning exhibits at the Muhammad Ali Center as part of the Kentucky Institute for Arts in Education.  The training workshops - led by master art educators in drama, dance, music, and visual art - provide unique and creative methods of teaching about the arts and how to connect it to other subjects.  After touring the Center, teachers were divided into six groups and assigned to one of the Ali Center’s six core values: spirituality, dedication, confidence, respect, conviction, and giving.  Each group created a performance piece that incorporated all four art forms and communicated their group’s artistic response to their core value.  The workshop concluded with each group sharing their performance piece and personal reflections.

The Ali Center was proud to be a part of assisting educators in creating exciting new ways to look at how to integrate the arts as tools for learning in the classroom.  The Institute was presented in its 25th year in partnership with the Kentucky Center for the Arts, University of Louisville, and Jefferson County Public Schools.
